I am told that i am about 12 weeks pregnant. How much longer do I have to wait to get an ultrasound?

about week 16 then another around week 20 probably. I wuld ask your doctor to schedual you an ultra solund around the 18th. The longer you wait the better your chances are on confirming a sex on your new baby. congradulations. Check out:

I was 17 weeks when I had my first ultrasound done. They were able to tell me that am going to have a boy at that time. I am now 24 weeks along.

I got my first one during my very first appointment (8 weeks). I've gotten a couple more ever since and now I'm 21 weeks, 5 days. Ask your doctor; I don't see why they wouldn't give you your first ultrasound already.

usually they will do your first one around 20-22 weeks, that's when the sex is visible. It's cool to wait a little bit, because really early on, you can't make out much, you can see the heart, but they kinda just look like a lil bean....
you could however request one if you really wanted one now... most offices don't mind scheduling you for one.

They usually do it between 16-20 weeks!!!! The longer the better chances of finding out the sex!!!

It all depends on your MD (and your insurance) Some do an US at the beginning to confirm dates, and then one at 20 weeks, and some just do one at 20 weeks. Ask your Doc what their policy is. It can't hurt to ask.

I had to wait til I was 16 weeks, but my girlfriend was 14 weeks when she went in. So good luck and congrats.

I saw a couple sites that say they do it at 8 to 10 weeks, so based on other peoples comments, you should probably just ask your OB doc when she plans on doing one.

My sons girlfriend got her first at 12 weeks and we couldn't see what it was. Then she went back at 21 weeks and she was having a baby girl and we saw her sucking her tiny fingers and she was crying. this is so special....Good LUCK I hope you enjoy your daughter or son as much I am my granddaughter
