I've heard people say they find clowns scary. I agree. My reason is: When I was little, my aunt and uncle took me to the circus. A group of clowns picked us from the audience, and brought us into the ring. They proceeded to push my uncle into a tub, pour buckets of water over him, and smear cream pie all over his face and head. Those permanent grins on their faces as they did this to my uncle freaked me out; as though they were enjoying his humiliation.

Wow. I never had that bad experience, but I just never liked clowns. They just gave me the creeps. So I am with you. Let's go get something to eat and come back when the trapeeze guys are swinging around.

I've never thought about clowns - I guess they don't scare me and I haven't seen the movie - BUT - both my daughters hated clowns and also Santa Claus (Father Christmas) when they were 3 - 4 years old. If I knew one of those was coming to a kiddie party I would have to stick close to them!

I have been afraid of clowns all of my life, and I have no idea why. My mom's favorite story to tell is that when I was too young to talk, she brought me to a small carnival at her college. When she brought me into the room where there was a clown, i started to scream and cry. As soon as the clown left, I stopped.

Weird, huh??

I do. Because a clown before was pumping helium into a balloon, and then when my family was about to go on the people's mover, the clown had held her back because he wasn't done and ever since then, my older sister hated clowns because they got her into trouble. I just hate them because they all always have that creepy look on their faces.

I think that the makeup that some clowns use definitely makes them look scary/menacing. If you want further proof that they are/can be scary, rent "Killer Klowns from Outer Space". It's an extremely bad (which makes it kinda funny) movie with some scary clowns (the movie misspells it as "klowns")

There is a name for this it is called Coulrophobia. I dont but many people have this fear. If you search for the fear of Clowns or Coulrophobia, you should get some good sites. Horror movies and Shows make light of this condition but for some it is very serious.

I don't, but I know that this is a common enough phobia. In fact, I have a friend who is terrified to the point where she won't even watch movies that have clowns in them.
