No offense to anyone gay or lesbian here but, wouldn't putting your child in one gendered school, increase his her chances of being a gay or lesbian? not that thats a terribly bad thing, i just think it increases their chance of being gay because all they do is socialize with the same gender, i just think i wouldn't do it so i could save the child the trauma and confusion.

I was not trying to affend you gays, but you take stuff way to seriously, i was wondering. and since you are so old to remeber being a kid, if a kid likes the same gender, he she WILL get teased.

When i said it may tramatize them, i meant them having a better chance turning out gay would tramautizing them from the teasing they would recieve for being gay. thats what i meant.

yeah. i think so too. and this could turn them gay due to learning to create relationships with the same gender only and not know how to function around the opposite sex so they grow more comfortable around their same gender. i also dont think these schools are a good idea because in the real world they have to work with both genders and if they are cut off from one of them then they prolly wont have a clue as to how to respond to them and plus how fun is it to be a teen and not have a gf or bf?? guys can learn alot from girls and vice versa. unless, the kid had been molested/raped by sum1 of the opposite sex and were like petrified of ne1 of that gender then i would do it, but other than that, i dont think they are a good idea.my friend was transferred to and all girls highschool because her parents got p'od at her cuz they caught her with her boyfriend.....lol...how embarrassing!!
i would die....no contact from guys...
ps did u go 2 school 2day??? lol....the weirdest thing...like maybe an hr after i anwsered yer Q i twisted my ankle and had 2 get crutches.....thanx alot....JK...im just natually kinda clumsy!!!!

I've attended both same-sex and co-ed schools. They each have their advantages. I personally enjoyed attending a same-sex school, and the vast majority of people turned out to be quite straight. And it's not as if we were constantly hidden away from people of the opposite sex. We went into town, moved among the locals, and interacted with people of the opposite sex every day. Also, you're assuming that kids who go to private academies and boarding schools have a lot of time on their hands, when nothing could be further from the truth. Experiment sexually? When would you possibly have the time? Activities are very heavily monitored, and your time is spoken for. It's not like public school, where latchkey kids can often wander home into an unsupervised situation. The staff/student ratio in most private schools is very small, and students' activities are being watched.

Not a bad question, but I say NO. Adults think that it decreases the "distraction" but that's BS too. Hormones are present and they will do what they will do. Even if , let's say, a girl goes to private school and is surrounded by other girls she will still react to what her body/mind is going for naturally. curiosity and convenience may surface, but that does not mean she'll be with women when she gets in the world.
I think that it is good to have teens around the opposite sex for social skills- don't want your daughter being freaked out by boy's till she's 30!!

Um, no. Having been in an all-male academy at one point, it just seems to cut down on distractions (the typical extra-curricular BS like dating, school proms, etc) so that people can get down to the business of doing something weird in school, like actually studying. The vast majority of guys were straight and ended up getting married (sometimes to graduates of the girls' school) and becoming fathers.

an all boy school or an all girl school has nothing to do with sexuality. there may indeed be homosexuals i those schools but they are just natural.
you can't increase chance of being gay because that is nonsense. the fact is you are whop you are, nothing can change that. same goes with boy scouts and girl scouts. but do bigots listen? noooooo!

That's what I think too. Though I never did go to an all girls school, too expensive. I guess parents think that putting their children in all girls or boys schools will reduce chances of underage sex and all those bad stuff.

my Grandma went to an all girls catholic school, and she grew up to be a loving mother. i would imagine, that boys and girls going to them kind of schools would not traumatize them, and 9 times out of 10, they live a good, professional lives and its also depends on where you live because the younger generation are so impressionable and they try things because teenagers are very easily influenced. i have a few friends who went to an all boy school, and they are now executives. alot of gay and lesbian people i know are just like me; i went to an co-ed school, and where i used to live, homosexuality is acceptable

Going to same sex schools have no effect on whether you gay or not, being gay is not a choice, your born that way, so your gonna be what your gonna be.

I think you should really check on your facts b4 you start blubbering like an idiot.
My ex-boyfriend went to an all-boys high school. He was not traumatized. dumb! dumb! dumb question.
I'm not a big proponant of that, but i DO think boys and girls should be seperated during 5th, 6th 7th and maybe 8th grades. Too much going on with their bodies at that time.
Just my opinion. But at least it's educated.
