Wow, most times I lose something, I jst never see it again. I assume they are dead after about two or three weeks.
I'd only remove dead animals if they take longer then two days to disappear. Just test the water daily for a few days just in case.

a shrimp should be ok as long as the snails keep eating it. One dead shrimp in 60 gallons shouldn't cause to huge a bio load in the amount of time it takes the snails to eat it.

Should be able to, I usually leave my fish in my tank whan they die. In waterholes in the wild, all the other animals feed on the dead fish. Just keep an eye on the water and if it starts to smell remove the shrimp and do a partial water change.
