Yes. It's very normal. When I was a little younger I wondered too. Once my friends started getting theirs, then I sorta just caught on what was going to happen and how to deal with it. Books are also very helpful. If you are too embarrased to buy one...then just hang out at the book store and read, and then you can get the info you are wondering about. Don't worry about it! :)

Yes!! Knowing how your body works is a great way to keep it healthy!
There are lots of sources of info regarding the biological stuff (the organs involved and why it happens, etc.) but it is also great to have an idea when it comes each month, how long it lasts and generally how the flow is (light or heavy, etc.).
At thirteen, depending on how long you have had your period, it may not have a definite pattern yet but usually over time it will develop one. Don't be afraid to ask you doctor questions! Write them down if you have to so you won't forget. Doctors are just people and they are there to help YOU! So Ask away!
Good for you! Asking and wanting to know about your body is a very mature and awesome thing to do and keep doing! Congrats!

Yes, it's very normal for you to want to understand what happens to your body. And no, not just if you're having sex. It's healthy and responsible. Don't listen to the ignorant old man who answered you; he's a jerk. A girl should understand what's happening to her body; a period is more than just the first clue that you may be pregnant. It's easy for a man to say whatever he wants since he doesn't bleed for a week a month. Be curious; learn all about yourself. Just make sure you also learn how to protect yourself from both pregnancy and disease.

Absolutely. As women we need answers! We live with our bodies and we need to know what is normal and what is not. The more in tune with your body the better off you will be. From hormones to pregnancy etc. You may go to a book called "know your body, know yourself" for some answers. Don't be afraid to ask a midwife or a doctor.

Sure. I wouldn't obsess about it(that could cause stress and make you miss it or for it to be late sometimes) but being in tune is certainly healthy! :)

Yes. However, it is abnormal for strangers to want information about it.
