I can't seem to get rid of my Squirtle partner when trying to enter the evolution cave. And only one pokemon can enter at a time!

i know, from your other question, that you've already gotten rid of squirtle, but i wanted to mention that you don't need to do that in a friend area...
in fact, i don't think you can get rid of squirtle in his own friend area the very first time you try to get rid of him, unless you go to menu>team>squirtle>standby. for any other one, you can talk to them, and get a list of options, but this is not so for your partners FIRST standby

If you go to the Friend Area where Squirtle is, you should be able to tell him to "Standby"; after you do this, the cave can be entered.

when your in any friend area and u want them to evolve talk to
them and have them join your team then talk to them again and make them leader when that pokemon becomes leader they can have you on standby so they can go evolve.

go to your partner's friend area, talk to him and select stand by. You can select make leader to play as that pokemon.
