There is a house down the street from me that I absolutely love and I want my house to be just like it. It has EVERYTHING that I want in a home. Do you think it would be disrespectful to go to the house and ask the owner questions about their home? I want to get the dimensions and all that stuff. I am really tempted but I don't want to them to think that I am crazy or staking their house out or something! What do you think?

Ask them! Worst they can do is slam the door. Immitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I have a full set of plans for my home posted online for anyone who would like to clone it.

I think you could tell them you love their house and could they give you the the name of the architect. If they know.

Then you could buy the plans. They may even have a set of plans, if they bought it new.
Some home owners do.
You can only copy the plans on an architectural machine. The BLUE will not copy on a regular machine.
They may invite you for a walk through.

I think it would be an awkward way for your neighbor to hear that you want your house to look "exactly" like theirs. You can approach them in which that you appreciate the design of their house - who knows it may be over your budget and end up offending them for nothing. So ask how they conceptualize their home they may just give you their architects tel # and go from there. You and the architect may just arrive a style of your of own.Trust me nobody likes a copy cat...
