From poster #3's website: Where are the advanced degrees? (Roger Patterson earned his B.S. Ed. degree in biology from Montana State University). Is there more? A B.S. Ed. is certainly not an advanced degree. It's quasi suspect to be commenting on anything biological.

That depends on just what you mean by "sided with creationists". I happen to believe, both logically and religiously, that God created the universe, designed its various processes and put them into operation. As a professional biologist I am also well aware that evolutionary change is one such process, which has been in operation since life first appeared on Earth. I find no inherent conflict between these two positions. Truth cannot conflict with truth.

I've seen it done many times. It is an example of the way Churchill described politics (paraphrasing)... reasonable people looking at the same facts and drawing different conclusions.

Another good Churchill quote that may be relevant:

"A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject."
