The stands at these pet shops are reliable, these stands have codes they have to be built by, and inspections passed before they are alowed to be sold at a store. Unless you weigh 300+ lbs and can place your weight evenly across the whole stand (this is what your new tank will weigh when filled) it will act 'woobly'. Just make sure you get a stand that is certified for use with your sized tank.

Just like Erin, I was an aquatic specialist for a Petco for 5 years and believe me, we threw those wood stands around and they were rock solid.

I would also steer clear of wroght iron stands. About 20g is my comfort threshold with those things. They get wobbly much quicker than wood ones do.

Unlike Wal-Mart, all Petco and Petsmart stands are out of the box. So you can push it, pull it, sit on it and then get the one that you feel most comfortable with.

I got my 125g stand from Petco years ago and it's still holding strong.

I work at petsmart and i can say that any of our solid wood stands are your best bet. I dont really like the wrought iron ones, i think they look really wobbly too! The solid wood ones are really decorative and sturdy... Also, at our store, as long as you have kept your reciept you can return any item at any time....lifetime guarantee!
