that you like the company, your folks have always shopped at sears and you have fond memories of the place, unlimited career potential etc.

Well, what is important? Do you need the money? Want the discount? Is Sears a place you (or someone) wants to work at? People have different ideas and different situations; there is no universal answer for a question like this.

There is no good reason to want to work at Sears. They are way overpriced on everything they sell, especially electronics.
