this is what I do. First of all know what is the highest price you will pay or are willing to pay, including the shipping. stick to this price. It is easy to get carried away. Once you have this price in mind, then wait until you are about 2 minutes away from the end of the bid and put that price. Make sure you are ready and all you have to do is place the bid. then wait and see. If you are the high bidder, then you will have to wait only a few seconds before you know if you won, if the other bidder has outbid you, then you know you have placed the highest bid you wanted to give. Now remember, just because you placed the high bid does not mean you will pay that. If the other bidder did not bid as high, you will only pay enough to outbid the bidder. Understand? I hope I did not confuse you

A bid is a bid in any auction. You can't speed it up except by offering a price the seller will accept. You can use autobidding, where you set the highest price you are prepared to pay and Ebay will then bid for you in increments up to that limit. You only pay what the highest bid was (if it was yours), not what you set your level at.

In any auction it's not wise to keep outbidding regardless. You should always set yourself a limit and go no higher.

The best way is to have the item you wish to purchase flagged so that it will come up and let you know when it is the last five minutes. If the price is still reasonable by your standards then let it go down to one minute then bid, but be ready to do another fast bid. by waiting until the last minute you are lulling the other better into thinking it is theirs. I have done this lots of times and have been able to purchase items for less than I was willing to pay.

No.
Bidding is a dangerous and costly game. You don't realize you've been sunken in until it is too late.
