Besides the Ivies, and some other really selective schools, college admissions really isn't that hard. Plus, these years have been the hardest on admissions because of the baby boomers' kids. After 2010, the number of applications will gradually decrease, making it easier to get in.

It is not hard to get into a college it is the fact of the tuition costs that the colleges are making people pay. Schools get so many applications, but a lot of the students dont go there. Basically more of the people who can afford college takes the chances of going. Really colleges dont care who comes because they are after the money. More and more colleges are allowing people who dont think they can make it into college and starting them off with high school courses. Another thing is that so many freshmans mess up in their first year and dont come back.

I think your question may be based on a faulty assumption, that being that colleges are hard to get into.

First, many top universities do require high academic achievement as a prerequisite to entry. Given your typing and grammar skills I might see why you are seeing difficulty.

The top schools want excellence. Excellence in grades, excellence in community service, excellence in communication skills and personality. Do you have what it takes? If not, it's NOT too late.

But there are always lower-rung schools...those that aren't the top of the top. There are some schools that will accept virtually every applicant.

Good luck.

More people apply, so more competition. I got 2 perfect scores in math and reading, but my writing score was only 720, for a total of 2320. I only read this SAT guide, and that is how I got such high scores:

I recommend this guide to anyone seeking to get a higher score to get into a first choice college.

only the ivies or top notch universities are competitive. there are hundreds of colleges out there that will accept anyone that sends in an application and pay for tuition.
