I got mine at a department store, on sale for 15 dollars. That's a pretty good price, seeing as how the little spikes fall out within the first week (which actually makes them WAY more comfortable). And they're not that painful, you get used to it. I just wouldnt wear them if you know you're going to be walking for a while. Keep your eye out, good deals are out there!

Try www.eastbay.com they sell mostly athletic clothing. They should be doing good deal on them now that summer's over and they need to bring in the fall styles. As for them killing your feet one of my friends wears them all the time. She uses them for house slippers because you can go outside of your house in them and slip them off when you get back in even if it's winter.
