I have really bad self-esteem when it comes to skin so I can't live without cover-up, for some reason when I apply not a lot but kind of close to a lot my skin goes all weird and flakey looking but I can't really like peel flakes off it just has this flakey look to it and I just don't understand how to get rid of it because it lowers self-esteem even more, but I need my cover up!

im sorry, that sucks. i feel ur pain!!

i suggest doing an exfoliation thing once in awhile... try an aspirin mask. buy a bottle for like $0.87 cents at wal mart, uncoated. get 4 or 5, drip a few drops of water on top, wait for it to soften. get some face wash, or cetaphil, and a couple of squirts will do. mix together, put on ur face, wait like 10 minutes. wash it off, and ur skin should feel really smooth! then put on a lot of moisturizer :)

as for the cover up, make sure u have clean skin. then put on moisturizer, wait for it to absorb. try getting a Primer, put that on top. then use concealer and dab on top of the spots, blend. using a brush helps, and i agree liquid is better. once that dries, wet a sponge and pat on foundation. after that, brush on powder. good luck!

i also hear Bare Escentuals (mineral makeup) is awesome at coverage, and helps w/ acne! good luck~~~~

Your skin is dry and dehydrated. If you want your skin to accept the makeup without flaking, you must first exfoliate your skin to get the dead cells off. You can do this with an alpha hydroxy cream followed by your regular moisturizer or you can use a little exfoliating pad with your cleanser. Don't use St Ives or any other treatment with little broken apricot or nut shells because they will rip and tear at your skin causing broken blood vessels.

You can also use mayonaise as a facial mask and it will work wonders, but only leave it on for less than 5 minutes to see how your skin will tolerate it. It has the acids (vinegar) the moisturizer (oil) and the protein for rebuilding (eggs). It will leave your skin soft and supple, but if you let it on too long, it could leave your skin red for a litte while.

Dont' worry you can fix this it sounds like you have dry skin so you have to be careful of the agreidents in this foundation your using its not right for you. You need to get the kind that will actually moistureize your face as well as cover and make sure it doesn't clog your pores you need to breath. talk to a technicion at a drug store or a skin care specialist she will be able to check your skin out ( go in without makeup) and do a test for you and give you the right kind you need.

you will be okay. dont worry. also keep in mind if you live in a climate that changes from warm to cold. what works for you in the summer may not in the colder months so make sure you look for that as well. everyone can get dryer in the winter.

I'm not sure what you mean- it only flakes when you use the concealer? if so- try Revlon color stay- I could grease the underside of a car with the oils in mu skin- and it stays on- but if your always flaky- and I am referring to your skin- then try a good mud mask once or twice a week to help exfoliate it- go to a healthfood store to get a good one- apple cider vinegar also helps with skin problems- it's just a little stinky

Instead of foundation use a tented moisturizer.
It works like a concealer but does not have all the bad things in it and moisturizes your skin at the same time.Or you can go to Bare Essentials.com or QVC.com and get Bare Minerals it gives you a flawless air brushed look while improving your skin!!! ; )

Lady, don't cover the bad things that you have. But try to get rid of it by consulting to a skin expert. Covering is like wearing a mask that sooner or later will be known. Covering doesnt solve your problems.

Clean your skin really well, then moisturize your face with a good moisturizer.
Lancome has a really good foudation that works great as a cover up. I don't know the name of it, but go to a department store and ask for a free makeover, and tell them, and they can help you.

first, apply a facial moisturizure to your entire face before putting on your makeup. that should get rid of tmost of the dry skin. the second reason you are breaking out might be because you are allergic to the coverup you are using. try one from a different manufacturer. like loreal or maybelene.

Try a different type of coverup.
My favorite is by a brand called Bare Essentials. All natural makeup and it is so adaptable to every skin type.

Your skin whether it is oily or dry, it needs vitamins and essential oils. I use a product that takes care of just that in a massage oil. I love it and my skin has never felt and looked so good!
