People don't really need money. They always need more than what they have. Bill Gates has the most money in the world and he is still not happy. He keeps working for more. A lot of people think that it's going to make them happy.. I think money only contributes to you happiness and that it's only part of it. Money helps you be able to afford things like cars, clothes, and houses and stuff. I think it also helps people build their self-esteem and their convidence about themself. I hope you like my answer and that it solves you problem because I thought about it alot too.

We, unfortunately, cannot live off the land as our forefathers once did. They may have inherited a home and land and some animals. They worked hard working the land, harvesting and caring for and slaughtering animals to survive. They may have not needed much money, but I'm sure they were happy living the simple life. There wouldn't be the pressure of some of today's issues. Their biggest worries would be how the weather was, so they could get the hay off before it rains, etc.
Now we need the money we earn to support ourselves. I don't know if it necessarily makes us happy. I think there is so much pressure now a days to in keeping up with our neighbours that we don't really even slow down enough to appreciate what we do have before we are off at the store to buy something else because we THINK we need it. STUFF doesn't make us happy. It's our relationships with those we love that really makes us complete. STUFF may give us a some feeling of completeness for a short time but in the end, it's just STUFF. I don't think people need money to be happy.
Nurture your family and friends and your neighbours. That'll make you happy. Oh ya, find a relationship with Jesus too - He'll make you happy! Peace!

Money does not lead to happiness; it leads to contentment. If you can't cover your basics in food, lodging, etc, then you will be less content than if you had it covered. If you had the income to have it covered and doubled your income, then you won't be more content or even happy from the addition. What you can acquire is an ability to stress less about the basic needs --- Maslow Hierarchy of Needs & Hertberg's Hygene Needs.
On a personal note....
I have a friend, who had the fortunate & unfortunate case of her mother dying. Though she had alot of issues with her mother, she was crying for a very long time. She stated that she was crying b/c she was now a millionaire & I was not but was happy. Her unhappiness just expanded to envy related to her new reality of money-does-not-equate-to-happiness. I could feel her pain but could never understand her issue... and probably never will.
I had rather be happy with little than unhappy & depressed with much.

People don't need money to be happy. They need money to be comfortable and some need it to feel powerful, successful, and important. IT does make life easier, but easier isn't always a good thing.

Because it is kind of hard to be happy with no home, car, posessions, and wondering where your next meal is coming from. All of these things require money. Other than that, money is useless.

No one needs money to be happy. Money is a tool to lower the transaction costs of exchange.
Money doesn't make you happy, it just makes the exchange process easier. If you have more to exchange then you have more options.
