It's basically like a science major if you go into preoptometry. Chemistry, biology, physiology, you would just have about one Optometry seminar class each term.

since optometry is in the medical field, i'm assuming the core courses would be similar to jobs in health care. so definitely classes in the sciences like bio, chem, physics, lit., etc...

Each college varies on their degree program. It would be best to decide what college you want to attend and have them give you the classes needed in writing.
