Democratic congress did not uphold Gerald Ford's aims. Democrats restricted warfare making powers and did not help Vietnam. the very similar ingredient Obama is doing: no longer upholding Republican's promises. Vietnam change into technically a victory besides, it change into actually an complete new warfare because the Paris Accords ended the warfare in 1973. In 1975, the North Vietnamese reinvaded, so both stages can technically be seen 2 separate wars. and that i'd like to reiterate that you do not understand what you're speaking about and democrats are responsible for the autumn of the Saigon authorities. to boot, REPUBLICANS already received the warfare in Iraq. you're welcome.

The main reason according to military historians and analysts was that we didn't commit enough manpower and resources to the war. It was also a civil war fought by guerllias who knew the terrain well.and had the support of the people. Our troops were worn down by the 27/7 danger of getting hit by sniper fire and the difficulty of distinguishing friend from enemy since the Viet Cong didn't wear uniforms.
Following the Vietnam war, Colin Powell developed the doctrine of "overwhelming force" which meant we should err on the side of having too many troops to fight a war, not too few.
Kissinger, who helped the US lose the Vietnam war (along with Rumsfeld and Cheney) had been advising the President on how to win the Iraq war.

Republicans didn't lose the Vietnam War. Washington politicians from both parties did. You can't run a war from half a world away, you win wars by allowing those in uniform to do their jobs and not create politically correct policies that restrict them from doing so. The same could happen in Iraq if the PC lib-socialist police keep up their same propoganda and push civilian laws to protect the enemy.

During LBJ's presidency it was the Democratic Party who felt much the same as President Bush and the Republicans do currently. LBJ's famous quote: "If the United States does not defend democracy halfway around the world, we will be fighting in Hawaii tomorrow, and San Francisco next week". It will be interesting to see in 50-years if the history books portray Bush in the same negative light as LBJ.

the vietnam war was won at first...same thing that happened in iraq...but then the democrats and the protesting hippies made the government second guess itself turning everything into a fiasco...the same exact thing has happened in iraq...our boys are losing thier lives down there because people like you....all you peopple did was open your mouths and made it more dangerous for our soldiers..granted they wouldn't be home yet but the area would be a hell of alot more secure if you wouldv'e let them do thier job in the first place!

I blame George W. Bush, if he had stopped snorting cocaine and drinking alcohol long enough he could have flown his plane over there and announced mission accomplished.
