electrician
plumber
mortician

The demand for health care is going to skyrocket in the near future to the long term. There is already a shortage of nurses, and there are not enough people to take care of the elderly in the coming decades. So, senior care is going to be very lucrative.

Other than that, try not to focus on trends, but use your brain to focus on what people need, and where you can be useful. Try to combine your interests and passions with the demands of the future.

Whatever you do, don't major in graphic design. That is a dead end.

Nurses in particular in demand EVERYWHERE right now and that is projected to grow exponentially in the next 10 years. Where I am located, they are giving RN's (BSN) anywhere from 5k with no exp. to 20k signing bonuses up front. So, nursing is the place to be.
