No, definately not. They look awkward together- kind of like navy blue with black. That's my opinion, anyway... but I know a lot of people who think the same.

No-- at least not on me. I wear a lot of earth tones and neutrals so I know. I always have a base color, and it's either a shade of brown or a shade of black, but never both in the same outfit. They just clash. Subdued colors go better with brown, such as a dusty rose, darker browns, forest green. "Popping" colors such as bright white, hot pink, light green or sky blue go better with black.

It depends on the particular shade of brown. If it is a crisp, slightly bright brown, then yes- as long as both the brown and black items are solid. If it is a dark or ashy brown, don't mix them.
