Run Spy-bot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, Windows Defender, and AVG Antivirus. Then run them again in "safe mode". If that doesn't take care of the problem, go to the device manager and un-install the drive, then reboot the computer. This reloads the drivers for the combo drive, they may have become corrupt.

It's possible that the driver for the drive is corrupted. If you know how to get to the Device Manager under Hardware, right click on the drive in question and choose "uninstall". Then reboot, and Windows should find the drive as "new hardware" and re-install the correct driver for it. Then try out a disc in the drive. If it still doesn't work, chances are that there's something wrong with the drive, and it probably will need replacing. Good luck.
