nearly weightless and sixty feet long the gray whale is anything but fat Blubber is insulation in near freezing waters. And whales migrate from the artic circle to gulf of Califorina have there young and migrate back six months latter with out eating. Blubber is stored energy and keeps the gray and humpback whales alive during non feeding period.

It's their bioligical make up. They have thick layers of blubber to protect against the extreme temperatures underwater. They also have a gargantuan frame to support the whale when they travel to extreme depths. Whales spend most of their time at the bottom of the ocean, they look the way they do - because those are the tools they need to survive.

Whales have a natural blubber which keeps them warm in artic temperatures, Also they are very large and can't get a good excersize even by swimming around the world.

Whales are not fat. They are the perfect size for their length and bone mass. Can you imagine what a 200lb whale would look like?Yea, they would be skin and bones.

they eat too much fish,for the whales it's normal for them to swim like it's normal for us that we can walk.they're not doing an exercise by swimming

whales have layers of blubber which help keep them warm in the cold sea, swimming is one of the best exercises humans can do!

Because of the depth's they dive they need at that blubber to keep themselves warm.

also, they aren't fat, that is their size. Why not ask why Elephant's are fat? they aren't, that is their size. Just because something is bigger than you doesn't make it fat. Hell, dinosaurs were fat too right?

theyre not acually "fat" as in overweight. their fat helps keep them warm because of the cold temperture in the water
