There are certain Pokemon you can only catch in the wild in one of the two versions.
Exclusive to FireRed:
Arbok
Delibird
Ekans
Electabuzz
Gloom
Golduck
Growlithe
Oddish
Psyduck
Qwilfish
Scyther
Seadra
Shellder
Skarmory
Weezing
Wooper
The Pokemon listed above also have another species of relatively the same type (e.g. Oddish in FireRed and Bellsprout in LeafGreen).

The chances of encountering certain Pokemon may be different depending on which version you're using. A good example would be few male Nidorans in LeafGreen, yet plenty in FireRed.
Really, though, in all other aspects of the game, LeafGreen is the same as FireRed, for the most part.

they are exactly the same except the 2 versions have diffrent poke mon you have to catch.

they got differnt pokemon like fr has wild ekans and psyduck and lg has wild sandshrew and slowpoke
