which yahoo? YIM? webpage? or what?
if it's anything in your start menu, then go to that particular program and instead of clicking on them (as in left clicking)...right-click on them and "send to" and then "desktop (create shortcut)"
if you want a shortcut of yahoo.com, then go to yahoo.com, then go to "file" menu..."send" and "shortcut to desktop"

Download the yahoo toolbar from http://toolbar.yahoo.com and it will ask you if you want to put yahoo on your desktop and also put lots of yahoo links in ur StartMenu
