I just finished my first draft of my english essay and typed up my homework for my computer science lab. I still gotta do a bunch of math this weekend. My english essay is due wednesday; and I have a Calculus test wednesday also. It's all so tiring.. Alabama lost.. it sucks.. But other than school work today.. that's all I've really done. Papers always take more time than math homework because math is static and english is interpretable. I think that's why I prefer math because I can usually get done with it in a finite amount of time. Anyhow.. NELSON+CARSON=REWARD .. did you know that? If N=5 then what do the other letters stand for? I figured it out. That was part of my computer science lab homework. It's some pretty weird stuff.. But we get to program a lego robot in that class which is really cool! Anyhow.. I guess I'll talk to you guys later.. I'm out..

NELSON + CARSON = REWARD. 526485 + 197485 = 723970. D = 0, C = 1, E = 2, W = 3, 5 = 4, N = 5, L = 6, R = 7, 0 = 8, A = 9

the general method is outlined here

since n+n (first place) = d or 10+d, it follows that d is an even number -> (0,2,4,6,8)

since all have length 6, the least value for r is 3; so r>=3

since in 5th place, e+a -> e. we must have a=0 or a=9 with a carry over from (l+r); in any case there is no carry over to 6th place...so n+c = r

if n<5, then r also must be even (due to 2nd place = 2*o); so it must be 4,6,8; if n>=5, then r must be odd, viz (3,5,7,9)

if a=0; then s+s -> 0 (3rd place) so s=5; if a=9, then s=4
...

proceed further with more assumptions and verifying....

eg: assume now n=5; then r in (3,5,7,9)
assume a=9; so s=4

finally to get: 526485 +197485 = 723970 where 0=d, 1=c, 2=e, 3=w, 4=s. 5=n, 6=l, 7=r, 8 = o, 9=a
