I had this problem once apon a time. Firstly, you should be starting off with smaller tampons--light flow ones. Plastic applicators are more comfortable than cardboard ones, but cardboard ones are easier to insert. Also, scented ones could irritate you down there.
A good way to find your "hole" is to use a mirror, and a good way to get it in is to lift up your leg, take a deep breath and insert it. Make sure the tampon is going in at a 45 degree angle. Make sure you take it out within 8 hours or you could hurt yourself. Good luck!

First, try this on a day of your period when you are bleeding most heavily. Find the smallest size tampon you can to start with, and smear a little vaseline on the end, as this helps it to be smoother. When inserting to begin with, choose a time when the house is quiet and you're not in a hurry for an appointment or other engagement. Squatting down is a good position to try, or lying on your back on a towel. Aim it vaguely in the direction of your kidneys and remember that when it's in properly, you shouldn't really be able to feel it at all. If you can, it's most probably in at the wrong angle or not in far enough. The further in, the better, and remember that it can't get lost. When removing, the squat is a good position again. And don't worry if it doesn't work the first few times- it will get easier.

Ok the first time you use - particually if you are a virgin it will be sore. The tip is to practice. I tried using my first one in the bathroom with no succes and then I used my second laying down which I found easier to introduce. I think that this was sbeacuse i had less fear of people pounding the door or bursting in!. Just remember thre are plenty of thin pads out there to try as well. Including thong string ones
1. Also DONT use a tampon over night.
2. Change the tampon regularly every four- six hour to avoid Toxic Shock Syndrome but beware of the symptoms of TSS.
3 Start with the smallest lightest tampon available.
4 Try and only use tampons on your heaviest days
5 RELAX
Good luck and welcome to being a woman!

They have this little paper that comes in the tampon box... you should use Tampax Pearl and read that paper that comes inside of it... you'll probably need Regular for your first time.
It'll be okay, hun. I promise. =) I've had a period for a total of... 4 years now. And I'm totally fine with using tampons, even though I started off with pads, and I know how you feel. Just relax. Tampons aren't uncomfortable unless they're inserted wrong or you're using one that's too large, such as a Super. Good luck!

don't be freaked out by your own body. Use a handheld mirror to take a look at yourself "down there" and you'll see, the opening to your vagina is hard to miss. The tampon box should have an info sheet in it, use it. It has a diagram of your genitalia that you can refrence.
take a deep breath, you're about to become very familiar with this part of your body as you have years and years of periods ahead of you.

Try covering the tampon with lubricant ( water based) and slide in gently. Take care and get used to the 'feeling'. Practice makes perfect. Take deep breaths - and relax - think of something that makes you feel good - while gently pushing your tampon into place

Ok, it is really hard to explain. (ok it's not, but I don't want to type it) I learned from www.beinggirl.com. It even has a short video showing you how. Or you can read. It goes in the middle hole. Use a mirror to find it

you have to relax......maybe put some k-y on the end of it until you get used to it. Once you use them, you'll never go back. you should probably practice finding that hole. use a mirror if you have to. did you read the directions, there could be some tips on there. are you a virgin? you could still have your hymen, this could cause some pain problems. good Luck

The box's itself should have directions, but you just need to relax, and take deep breathes and just be calm, because it won't go in if your all tensed up.If you got it in right you shouldn't be able to feel it but if you can feel it take it out and start over.Hope this helps!!

Practice somewhere private where you're comfortable. It's easier if you either lay down with your legs up or squat over a toilet. Try these directions from Tampax.
