The Tiger should be the A's
The Mets should be the Cardinals
The Tigers pitching should shut down the Mets bats. After all the Tigers pitching shut down the Yankees bats and the Yankees are a far better hitting team then the Mets.

I'll say the Tigers win the series in 6 or 7 games.

David Eckstein was dressed in a snappy pinstriped suit after the Cardinals' win over the Mets on Thursday.

"I am going to see Reggie Sanders [on Friday]," he said laughing. "He's one of the best dressed guys in the league."

In addition to seeing former teammate Sanders and his 2005 double-play partner Mark Grudzielanek, Eckstein and his teammates will meet Kansas City in a three-game set that marks the beginning of Interleague Play.

The I-70 series between the two squads still holds a lot of weight, especially with fans -- even though the Cardinals are in first place in the National League Central and the Royals are floundering with the Major Leagues' worst record.

"They won the '85 World Series [against St. Louis] and there is really good attendance at both places," manager Tony La Russa said. "Both teams get into that because of the World Series. There is an extra added edge that means there is history."

Last year, the Cards took two out of three from their cross-state rivals.

John Rodriguez said the Redbirds, fresh off a 6-3 homestand against three National League teams with winning records, can't take the Royals lightly.

"I know it is important because we have to win, obviously, [but] it is kind of big because it is the battle for the state and all," he said. "More than anything we have to win and make sure we do."

La Russa agreed, saying the Redbirds should focus on the same goal he always has before a series.

"The whole key is to accumulate wins," he said. "That's why the series you play, in whatever division, is just as important."

Chris Carpenter, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, takes the ball Friday night. The right-hander is second in the NL with a 1.98 ERA, but only has a 3-2 record on the season. He has allowed just six earned runs in his last four starts, but is 0-1.

The San Diego Padres.

Te SD Padres will win because of:
a.Pitching--One of the best starting five in baseball:Peavy, Young, Williams, Hensley, Wells. They have the lowest team ERA in the National League. They have the best bullpen in baseball. No one knows about this because San Diego is on the West Coast, rather than in Bristol, Connecticut.

b.They are the hottest team entering the playoffs. They won 20 games in Sept./Oct., and their momentum will carry them. They've had tremendous clutch (late, 2 out) hitting on their hot streak.

c.NL competition: Dodgers suck, Cardinals suck, and the Mets don't have Pedro. Also, none of these AL teams have faced their pitchers or thrown against their young hitters.

Padres in 4, 6, and 5.

World Series Games: Mets vs. Tiger
Tigers may have the best pitching staff with Verlander, Zumaya, Jones, etc...
Mets have a great lineup with a whole bunch of power hitters and speedster, Reyes.
In the end I think the Tigers might pull through

It's going to be the Yanks. They have the most lethal lineup in the MLB. With Sheff and Matsui back at full strength, they're going to be tearing the ball up
