It is a bit chilly but you could make him a picnic dinner or lunch. Tell him you'll pick him up at a certain time and have everything ready. Put together a cd or some music of songs that mean something to both of you.
Then you go pick him up, lay everything out start the music, light some candles (if they stay lit) and have a beautiful meal together talking and enjoying each others company.

Buy something and do something that you will never forget and something you can remember if you have a bad time.
Like a special ring or a very different dinner or a good trip

Get the kids to a sitter and go out to eat and else where that you like then home to a bath and bed. Oh buy him a nitie that fits you very nicely.
