what animal(s) had significance to the Aborigines? and how were they significant?

The kangaroo is to the aborigines the same as the buffalo was to the indians............ dig that...................................

Aborigines or koori people are the caretakers of the land they live on..including the animals. Certain animals are totems and not allowed to be killed and none are taken in excess. Animals also play a part in their corroborrees (meetings) where many of the dancers take on the aspect of an animal such as a kangaroo, emu or brolga for example.

im not sure of the signifigance 2 aborigines but as an aussie i know the kangaroo and emu r on our national coat of arms as they r the only 2 animals that can not go backwards (ie kangaroos cannot hop backwards only forwards and an emu cannot walk backwards either) which is why they are on our coat of arms hence the name of our anthem Advance Australia Fair as 2 advance you must go forwards not backwards.

I've heard its the same as drop bears. Good food if you can get to them before they tear your head off or kick you to death.
