ia always a good idea to clean the ducts...it will keep your house free of dust when you turn your AC of furnace..is many companies that offer the service, you can look at the yellow pages in your city phone book

maddie I am an a/c contractor and we call in duct cleaning companies when it is needed. only and inspection by an honest repairman can help you determine if you will not only need it but if it will be worth the money. some ducts cannot be cleaned due to age and condition. some can be cleaned to like new. Yes you should consider but only if you need it. also make sure you find a good cleaning company many are rip offs.

Using the cleaning methods I have seen and knowing how air ducts are made and assembled I can't imagine how a duct system could be cleaned without damage.

If you smoke in the house, duct cleaning can help remove the odor. Otherwise, a good furnace filter would be more than enough.
If you have allegy issue, I would consider installing an electronic filter at the furnace. If you opt for electronic filter, do remember that regular cleaning is required. Cleaning the filters can be abit of work.
