I promise my two daughters that I will be there for them for ever and ever. They are two and four, and it seems too young to explain to them that daddy is going to die some day. I hope I'm doing the right thing.

In all my years, and terrible as some of the things I have done may be, I have never done that.

I rarely make promises.

But if I do I'll go to great lengths to keep them.
