14 g of Magnesium when heated in air produces 21 g of product. What percent (by weight) of magnesium is present in the product? answer in percent?

14 g is heated and becomes 21 g - sounds like you have used all 14 g of your base item and added whatever is in the air - resulting in a total of 21 g (14 of which is your Magnesium.)

By simple math 14 of your 21 grams is Magnesium (assuming it was all converted to vapor.) 14/21 is 2/3 .. or 66.666%

First you must understand that all of the Magnesium was converted into the product. Therefore there are 14 g of Magnesium in the product and the total product weighs 21 g. Can you solve the problem now?

The fraction of Magnesium in the product will be 14/21 . I will let you convert that to percent.
