I need to 'start over' I have been in Chicago all my life and I feel stagnated.
I have a 4-year degree in business and am in grad school for my MBA and my master's in accounting and finance so work isn't a huge issue but would like it if the job market were good.
Any suggestions?

West Michigan (Grand Rapids area). Grand Rapids is a nice, bustling, vibrant, and growing city. The "West Coast" of Michigan is beautiful, with nice sandy beaches, forested bluffs, and nice coastal towns like Saugatuck, Grand Haven, and Holland. Plus, you'd be fairly close to your former home of Chicago.

Dallas is a great place for young singles starting over. It has culture, night life and great job growth! Everything is growing North like crazy there. Addison has a lot of the singles. They don't even have a school system there...it's an area for young professionals. Frisco and Mckinney and The Coloney are nice communities too. They do have schools though. If I was looking That would be a place I would look. Warm climate, friendly people...wish I was there!

I think you're still a big city girl. What the big apple? Or come to Canada to the little apple, Toronto. Both are business centers right, you'll meet people from everywhere. Lots to do. Go for it.
I'll also suggest the west coast in Canada. Namely Vancouver. It's a booming town. Hot housing, scenery, ocean and mtns. and the winter Olympics are coming here. Also, wine country is here if you're into that. This is where I live. You'll enjoy being Canadian. Email if you have Q's

Silicon Valley, my dear. I lived in the midwest (KC, Chicago, Denver) and when it was time to get serious about my career, it was the San Francisco Bay area that lured me. In particular, San Jose. You may also like San Diego. If you're politically conservative, San Diego is one of the conservative spots in the state, if you're "progressive" then you may enjoy northern California better. The cost of living is high as hell, but the opportunities for career here are the best. The quality of life is superb. Although I work for a hi-tech firm, we employ a huge staff of Accountants and most of our managers are MBAs.

Atlanta, I moved here from Cali about 4 years ago. The cost of living is great. There is a large single life out here. Also there is great shopping and restaurants. The job market is great. It is great city living with a short drive you are in the suburbs if you like a quite home. Hope that helps.

NJ has been very kind to me, a single mom...There are many opportunities here, lovely beaches to take your child too...lots of state parks, we enjoy the 4 seasons, none too extreme and they only last a few months each. The job market is great....lots of big name companies, the list goes on.
If you have family in another state though, you might try there first, but this could be a good place for you to start your new life.

Oregon!!
Eugene is a wonderful small city. Definitely would be a change of pace for you. If it is way to small, then head north to Portland, or to Seattle in WA. Seattle might suit you better if you need that big city feel. Definitely try the west coast on for size, you will probably love it, and all that there is here to do and see.
I agree that Vancouver, BC, Canada is another place to look in to ... at least go visit ... immigration is a hassle, but if you live in Seattle its an easy weekend outing!!

Go to Phoenix, AZ honey... It's booming with 30-somethings, a great city, tons of job opportunities... Really, you should look into it. It's beautiful out there. A big change from Chicago - I can tell you that.

Atlanta has a reasonable cost of living, housing, good job opportunities, change of seasons (but still mostly warm compared to the NE), lots of greenery, mountains (not all flat and boring), it is a major airline hub for traveling convenience, good variety of churches, and nightlife ... many other pluses.
Other good choices to consider ...Tampa, Austin

There is a huge financial district on the north side of Atlanta, GA. You might try checking it out for job prospects.'
