Agree to agree on what? ; )

Probably when "Hades" freezes. Which would help with the aforementioned ice cream.

"Repubs" and "Demos" exist because they do not agree.

First of all, American political parties evolved-they were never created or intended by anyone (i.e. the Fore Fathers). Human thought goes in different directions on different issues. When enough people agree on enough issues, a political party is formed. And for all the people who disagree, a separate party is formed. They occur naturally. Unfortunately, in our time, people have forgotten to think for themselves on a hypothetical issue and only support the side their party supports( "their party" as in the party they were in agreement with on a previous issue). Independents do not get the respect, credit, and notariety they deserve because of this blind polarization.

However, agreeing to disagree is an important aspect of how the American political system works. Its called "checks and balances". Having party A always inspect and analyze Party B's hypothetical resolution (whether for personal benefit or for the good of American government) prevents any drastic laws from being enacted and any tyrannical rulers from being ELECTED. This attention to detail by skeptical party members is the principle ideal of Democracy.

Absolute agreement between any two parties would result in a perpetually one-sided government. We need Republicans. We need Democrats. We need those who hink for themselves (not that "Repubs" or "Demos" don't), and we need any other parties that may form in the future.
