sqrt(x^2 - 8x) = sqrt(x^2 + 8x)

since both sides have sqrt, the sqrts cancel out

x^2 - 8x = x^2 + 8x
x^2 - 8x - x^2 - 8x = 0
-16x = 0
x = 0

Since this implies x^2-8x = x^2+8x
which implies -8x = 8x, or 16x = 0,
the only possible solution is x = 0.
