I live in Canada, but some of my ancestors came from Northern Ireland (Armagh County, to be precise). I've never set foot on Irish soil and I've never flown over Irish air space, but I, all of my family and every other Irish person I know are personally responsible for bombing the crap out of Belfast. Do you believe me? Chances are you don't. I mean, how is it possible for my family and I to bomb Belfast when we've never been there? Doesn't make sense, does it? Yet that's exactly how a lot of Muslim people are being treated. A lot of them are being personally blamed for the WTC bombings 5 years ago. I don't get it at all. Sure, there are some Muslims who should be held responsible, not not all of them. In fact, most Muslims had nothing to do with it at all. They're no more responsible for the bombings than I am of the bombings in Belfast. I know a lot of people don't share my views, and that's cool. But if you want to take some shots at me, go right ahead. Fire away! TY!

I know this is a really weak comparison, but the fact still remains that a lot of Muslim people are being blamed for something they didn't do.

My cousin works with a guy who was born in Canada, but his parents were Muslims from Syria. Ever since 9/11, they've had certain people's prejudices and judgements thrown at them, and have also been threatened. He and his parents were living and working in western Canada at the time of the bombings, and some people still heap loads of crap on them. I just don't understand how some people can be so narrow minded. Thank you.

I think some of you may have misinterpreted my opinion. I'm not saying that all Irish people are terrorist. I'm just trying to prove a point here.

northern Ireland and Belfast are pretty close geographically. I'd imagine they are the same group of people fighting amongst themselves.
But in the isalmic fanatic case, they CAME HERE. They spewed venom where they visited and hurt innocent people not involved in their backward self-righteousness.
Come to the U.S. and try to bomb the Irish contingent in Chicago and you'll have your hat handed back to you.
The zealots CAME HERE. they brought their intense hatred and stupidity HERE.

My ancestors are from the Republic of Ireland and yes that does make you terrorist and me one too.We can joke about it here but your point is well taken . I have written letters to the editor on this very subject. My sister has been to the old country and it is no joke there. You could take the analogy a bit further the hate between the catholic and Protestant being similar to the Sunni and Shea . Ihave had sympathy with the muslims since 9/11

well of course NOT directly responsible BUT then again did you ever give money to their 'collections' you know the one of give a dime a day to kill a British solider etc etc...............

And when they was blowing each other up that was NOT the main problem it was when they hit the mainland and killed anyone else regardless of WHO they was just because they did not follow their doctrine.............does THAT sound familiar as well, as that is what is happening over there.......

BUT I must admit at least you are able to class your country men as terrorists as opposed to freedom fighters..............

I personally dont view ALL of any one country as the same so why should you...........there are good and bad in every race creed and colour.

Also in regards to the Muslims.....maybe what upsets people on the whole, as it sure does get up my nose is that they might NOT be the same but they are NOT coming out and condemning the small fraction are they???? which MIGHT be why so many others are lumping them together as the same.

Yes i do sympethitic to what is going on in the world. The catholic as been at war with the protestan for years.Watch what you say because you to could be on the watch list just because who your family might be. America is very racist as well as jews.

I get your point. I think it's easier for some people to blame "all" Muslims because they think "they all look alike." It's that kind of mentality. I don't blame all Muslims for what a few radical, fundamentalist Muslims did and continue to do. And it's unfair to blame those who are peaceful for the actions of a few.

I think you've been living in Canada so long it has absolved you of any Irish intelligence you could possibly have in order to pull off a smart, and calculated terrorist act.

It isn't the geography you are from. Terrorists were IRA members, not just any Irish. Fanatics of any religion pervert it for their need for power over others. It isn't all Muslims, it is the fanatics.

You have proven your point very well. It rankles me to no end that so many generalize. It is nothing less than ethnic discrimination and that is as bad as racism.
