I had depression por 2-3 years. It started when I was 22, but I still don't know why.
I started seeing psychiatrists and nothing worked. They prescribed tons of different druegs, you name it I took it.
Nothing worked. I lost memories from that time and drugs really affected me. I gained weight, I didn't feel anything....they made me numb.
I started seeing a psychologist, and been in therapy por 3 years now. I stopped taking medication and immediately started feeling better. It took three years, as I said and a lot of work. But I have never missed an appointment with my psychologist and I really thank God I found this option.
I am going to stop seeing her (or any therapist) now because I'm moving out of my city. I want to try out living without therapy.
I cannot say drugs for depression are bad, but I really hated the experience.
Hope this helps.
And excuse any grammar or spelling errores. Einglish is not my mother tonge.

Exercise is great for relieving depression. It can be something as simple as going for a walk or riding your bike. Or, you can join a gym, take dance classes, or train for a local marathon. Almost every town or city has a walk or run for some cause or another.
Also try and do something for others. If you don't have a large socal circle or family, try volunteering in the community or at church.
Set some goals for yourself and develop a plan to work toward them. Then immediately take some first steps.
Listen to a funny CD or TV show or watch a funny movie. A good laugh is very therapeutic.

Talk to your doctor and tell her/him that your medicine is not working. you may need different medication or something stronger. also it may be helpful to see a physiologist on a regular basis and talk things out and try to find ways to reduce your stress sometimes reading is a big help also! You can find lots of books in the library to help you!

I've been like this lately too, but it's mostly because of stress. I usually go to a therapist just to talk to someone. He gives me advice, and listens to me. Maybe you should start talking to someone also. This might help you a lot. It relieves a lot of stress.
