American men to be more exact, and I am not the only one who thinks so, many Latin women on the U.S claim that they prefer to date white American men, and it's true. Latin men are so rough and dumb when it comes to treating their own women, and many white men treat Latin women like they are supposed to be treated.

That's why I like about them, and I have been thinking about this since a very looooooooooong time.

Well 1. I think men like women who are different than what they are used to - so white men often like Hispanic women, etc. Also, I think it is a cultural thing - from what I've seen, in Latin culture, the women have more traditional roles - to take care of their men and children. Therefore Latin men are used to everything revolving around them. More white men (but not all, TRUST me), are more used to being equal partners with their women. Unfortunately, it seems to me, that this also creates a lot of hostility between Latin women and other women. Other women are seen more as competition because traditional Latin culture revolves around the man in the house. This is unfortunate because I think as women we should all stick together.

It is sad, but there does seem to be a cultural failing wherein many of these men have a very difficult time. Violence has for whatever reason become associated with masculinity in these cultures.

It does not help that some women encourage them, or that sporting events further escalate the phenomenon.

Well, blame who you will. Suffice it to say that these men act the way they do because, ironically, they are too scared not to act this way.

They want to fit in, and they are desparately trying to be the kind of "real man" they see in the beer commercials. Not some "girly" man. They don't know who they are, but they know what they don't want to be.

It is a terrible way to live.

This has to do with the traditional role of men and women in Hispanic culture, specifically the difference between the Caucasian and Hispanic family culture in general. Essentially, whites had the same issues, but our culture evolved faster due to faster spread of education in mainstream American (white) society.

The Hispanic male attempts to live an ideal "machismo" role that includes personae such as being the provider, leader of the family, but in taking this role he also views others in his family, especially females as having a lower social standing. The young Hispanic male learns this behavior from the role his father plays and the cycle continues. It is likely that over time things will change, but the extent of this time is unforeseeable. Changes like higher education among the women and cultural integration (observing others) will be necessary first.

Well. . .for one. . . you would have to date the entire white race in order to make that statement with any conviction. Perhaps, just perhaps that the "Latin men" you have been involved with, were simply not to your liking.

I am Latino and have dated women of almost every race. I married a woman who happens to be Latina . . . not because she is Latina, but because of who she is as a human being.

You may be judging "cultures" more than "race" and have the two confused. Those "men" who may have been raised to believe women should be "domesticated" and "raised" to serve the needs of men are found in any race.

I was raised in a household of 7 women and my father (6 sisters and my mother). I was raised to respect women and men. . . and as I stated, I am a Latino. This country (the USA) has many cultures and they are quickly blending (despite prejudices). . .eventually, you will learn that it is not a racial difference but a cultural difference that you find is to be a factor in your judgment of people, and not only with men.

See and judge the people you meet by their "individual actions", and remember that their behavior is not race based, but culturally developed by there surroundings and upbringing. We are not all the same. . no human is.

I think that men raised by traditional Latino parents, have somewhat of a subservient view of women, but nothing negative, it's just a tradional thing. Most white American men have "frying pan yeilding" mamas who wouldn't put up with men who viewed them as subservient. Apart from that, Latina women are GORGEOUS, exotic, curvy and have that "oomph" that gets one's attention. My white husband of 12 years married an "everyday" white girl, but I'm a SOUTHERN white girl, so I guess I have some "oomph" of my own!

You may get slammed for this question but the belief actually exsist in other cultures as well. I have heard it more than once from several women on my visits to other countries.

Many American men find Latin women very sexy, exotic.
Latin men seem too full of themselves and can't handle someone else getting more attention than they do.

Because Latin men tend to be doted on by their mothers to the point that they see themselves as the center of the universe.
