MRI does not involve ionizing radiation, Ct does. For the most part CT is the preferred modality for evaluating tumors involving the chest, abdomen and pelvis, with MRI preferred for brain, skeletal and spine imaging. The main advantage to CT is that it a very short exam (usually less than a minute scan time, whereas MRI exams are at least 20 minutes.

CT is the well-liked modality for many cancers, pneumonia, and ordinary chest x-rays. CT test would not teach you tendons and ligaments ok in any respect; a minimum of not yet. MRI is the superb determination for that. in case you have been in an twist of fate, organs can get torn or broken. CT shows organ tear and organ injury right this moment and effectively. broken bones and vertebral bodies of the backbone are extra valuable seen on CT yet injury to the spinal twine itself is displayed on MRI lots extra valuable than CT. CT is a lot extra acceptable at visualizing the lungs and organs interior the chest hollow area between the lungs. MRI isn't a solid gadget for visualizing the chest or lungs in any respect. the quantity of radiation gained from a CT test is decrease than that gained on a trans-continental airline flight.

Both tests serve the same purpose. They look down through the body by making pictures in a sort of slice pattern. The biggest advantage of MRI over CT is that it does not involve using any xrays.

both are effective diagnostic tools. MRI came after CT, and tends to be used more in looking for soft tissue anomaly, CT is more often used in looking for distortions or hard tissue anomaly.
