This procedure is called palpation. They are feeling for your internal organs, such as your spleen, liver, gall bladder, stomach, etc. They are checking to feel if there are any masses, such as tumors or other growths inside your abdomen. They can check to see if your bowels are hard, which might indicate a bowel impaction or other problems. They may listen to your bowel sounds with a stethoscope. This tells them if your bowels are actively working properly. No bowel sounds is ominous, Too many bowel sounds in one spot and little in another tells them other details. You can ask them what they are listening to and often they will let you listen. That can be fun, especially for younger children, who sometimes are frightened by the stethoscope.

Tenderness, usually, especially if you're young. As you get older, they would notice if your liver were swollen or there was pain where there shouldn't be. If there's any problem in the abdomen, people usually hold their stomach rigid which is a sign that the dr should check around some.

hi there, it all depends on what you went to the doctors for, if you have an upset swollen stomache they could be checking to see if you have a bowel blockage (constipation) there again they could be checking to see whether or not your appendix are tender.
i hope this helps

In some cases they may be checking for a burst appendix, or possibly a kidney infection, or an enlarged liver. It just depends.

They could be checking for areas you react to and that are tender, also your bowel and stomach areas and how hard and soft these areas are, next time ask them to tell you what they are checking for and why do they do this to put yourself at ease.

They are checking for abnormalities and to see if you are internally injured or if your internal organs are out of place and/or functioning properly.
