people would not be educated, teachers would lose jobs, and only the rich and upper middle class would be able to afford to send their child to private school. Crime rate would increase, and we would be in a mess, so why the mumbo jumbo???

No public schools means all private schools. This creates competition in the field of education. The theory is that if schools are ran like businesses, you will get better service more efficiently, basically students will learn more, have better instruction, be provided with a higher quality education at a lower price. This idea is not really totally off base. Schools in many foriegn countries like Germany, Belgium, Japan, and France, compete for students. All of these countries have better education systems and smarter students than our country.

If government didnt pay for public schooling, schools would compete (capitalism) for students, lowering tuition price. Students would actually receive better education through competition and respect of society and other schools. People would donate to keep their schools prosperous, like private schools ahve been doing forever. Why would crime increase? I dont see the connection. What "mess"?
