Most of my research into the area pertains to written work rather than music (fanfiction based on books), but here's my two cents.

You must credit the work(s) you use that do not belong to you, be it music, video, or pictures.

You must not be making a profit from the work in anyway. So making a video asking for money or other things is not allowed.

You should probably do some legal research on Public Domain and Fair Use laws to be completely certain of your leagal obligations/rights.

That said, most things that are on sites like youtube can probably be defended by using the satire/fair use defense.

I notice that people who use the songs do give proper credit for it after the video is over; guess it's a way to make sure that everyone knows who the song rightfully belongs to.

Well seeing as people just steal music online all the time, what's the harm in using it in a video?

Are you profiting from the video?
