First of all, there was no such thing as the United States when the "Caucasian" race came here. It was called the "New World" and it was up for grabs. There was also no such thing as "immigration" to the new world in an age of expansionism, colonialism, and imperialism. It was up for grabs. The Pilgrims wanted religious freedom, the English wanted a new colony. Actually Spain and France wanted a piece of the pie as well.

People from spain and poland were on the first three ships of Columbus.
People from a few other places came after that.
About 1/10 of todays population of whites are decendants of the immigrants who started the nation.
The other 90% came after this and had to follow a strict screening for disease and identification.
Something required back then for safety. Not required now. How safe do you feel?

Technically, the settlers were indeed immigrants.

As you already know, the Native Americans were the original inhabitants of the so called "New World".

If it weren't for the Native Americans, they wouldn't survive their first winter.
