Maybe it has something to do with being a Master...?

Because when the first three movies were made death couldn't be real, dead people had to just disappear; body and soul. The fac that Yoda and Obi-Wan were more in tune with the force and the others weren't doesn't hold water. When Anakin died in Return of the Jedi he went to the other side but his body didn't disappear.

Obi Wan and Qui Gon and Yoda were on a higher level of the force, they didnt actually die they just crossed over to the force. They are one with the force.

yoda was contacted by quigon jin after quigon had died....after his death he discovered the secret to eternal life...that was what yoda told obi wan at the end of episode 3...that he was talking to his old master and that yoda had some teachings for obiwon to practice while he was watching over luke on tatooine....so at the time of their deaths only yoda and obi wan had these teachings!

When Yoda and Obi-wan died, they really didn't die.......they voluntarily became one with the force....their bodies dissolved into spirit. Obi-Wan was never struck down by Darth Vader, if you pay close attention to the movie, he was gone before Darth Vader struck him. When Anakin and Qui-Gon died, they did not become one with the force, their bodies died of normal causes (physical trauma), thus hindering them from becoming one with the force.........After all these years of being a Star Wars fanatic thats my interpretation of it.

I think Scotty got it... but I also wonder this: if Yoda and Obi-wan made their bodies 'one with the force'... why they appear DRESSED with the same clothes they left behind??? they should appear naked! (just kidding!)

Because they had been taught by Qui-Gon how to find the path to immortality - once he had taught them, their bodies disappeared into the Force, but they reappeared as ghosts. Lucas made it kinda confusing, though.

Just going by what the movies said!

Well if their clothes disappeared, people would argue that they didn't die but zipped to some place else. With the clothes there, no one is going to argue that there is a naked Jedi Master walking around somewhere.
