Anything. It is the tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language that they respond too. So read whatever you enjoy reading but read it with lots of intonation and expression as though it were a fairy tale.

Books with a "sing-song" rhythm are great, all children seem to love them. Goodnight Moon, Everywhere Babies (still a favorite in our house and she's 2 1/2), the Sesame Street books (level 1). Have fun!

Baby loves to hear Mummy's voice ,you could read the phone book and baby'd be happy.
Choose something you loved yourself as a child and gives you good memories.
Nursery rhymes are easy to read and have a lovely rhythm baby may find soothing

Anything and everything. The dictionary, encyclopedias thesauraus...as stated above-books with bright colors and pictures. They learn so fast, and they can comprehend before they can speak. Bless you for reading to yours!

Most bookstores, by the way, will have books arranged by age appropriate-ness.

Babies love picture board books. My kids really loves the basic chunky books with pictures of colors or animals. Babies looove pictures.

Any children books with lots of colorful pictures and words with rhymes.Babies focus on the color of items.Bright more lively pictures will keep babies more interested.

Animal books and letters and numbers simple, also nursery rhyme books, nothing to long but something sweet and simple.

Below about 6 months - absolutely anything. It is the time you spend with them, and the closeness that is important. I used to read the daily paper to mine - honest!!
