auto means self. It's when you write a biography about yourself. That's why they call it an autobiography. When you write someone ELSE's life story, that's just a biography.

BabyJamel's biography would be the story of your life written by someone else. This might be a person that never knew you and wrote from talking to others you knew or from research through papers and public records. Or, it could be someone that knows you and is helping you write your story, i.e. an authorized biography. An autobiography is the story of your life written by you in the first person from your own point of view.

Autobiography is written by its subject; biography is written from an outsider. So it's a first degree primary source if it's an autobiography and second degree primary source (not to be confused with secondary source) if it's a biography

An autobiography is when someone publishes a book that tells you about his/her life in their own words.Example if I wrote a book about my life the book would be my autobiography.
A biograpghy is when a person publishes a book that is about someone else's life.Meaning for example if i wrote a book about a political leader's life it would be a biography.
How I remember the difference is by this:Autobiography begins with the a.I take A as meaning "All about me in my words."
