Oh my gosh you need this answered. Scientology is a cult, a made up name by a guy who wrote a lot of science fiction books and then started his own religion. The main book about it is called Dianetics (I think that's it, and it's another made up word) written by L. Ron Hubbard. He has created a whole vocabulary for his cult. The main purpose of scientology is to bilk money out of celebrities, who make too much for what they do and look for ways to spend it selfishly. After they have more material possessions than they can keep track of, they fall into the lies of fad movements like scientology, because they think they can buy morality and spiritual development, and it is a way of buying more stuff for themselves without getting more actual stuff.
Philosophy is a word combined from two greek words; philo, which means love (there are 3 words for love in greek for 3 different views of love) and sophy, which basically means knowledge and is the root of the word sophisticated. Philosophy literally means love of knowledge, and is a description of the approach people who are thirsty for the truth take towards life in general. Philosophy is the study of everything there is to study, including cults and religions. The scientific method used in true science was developed by philosophers. Incidentally, I could not imagine a philosopher having much confidence in "The church of scientology", since it is so obviously a scam. Philosophers discard anything false from our studies as quickly as it identified as false. The succinct objective of philosophy is the truth in all things.
The two concepts are not even in the same class, it is like comparing golden apples to dried turds, the dried turds being scientology.
As to the second part of your question, the affect on inner health; love increases the spirit, and the truth is absolute, therefore it keeps the mind clear and focused. Both are the essence of philosophy.
Lies, of which scientology is full, are what has brought hell to earth. The effect of scientology is eventual madness.

Philosophy is the dicentric evaluation of reality, time, space, and mankinds place and purpose. It has lots of good books, too. Might I reccomend Antoine de St Exupery's 'The Little Prince'.
Scientology is a scary religion, generally followed by weirdos in Hollywood, which is not the real world. Usually its members have dabbled in several other hip new religions first; Buddhism, Moonies etc. Just look at Tom Cruise & Richard Gere!

Philosophy is a branch of study of basic questions like How do we know what we know? What's the difference between right and wrong? There are many schools of thought and approaches to philosophy. There have been untold millions of philosophers contributing, studying, and teaching philosophy over all of human history.
Scientology is a sort of a religion, with a specific set of beliefs, recently founded by L Ron Hubbard, formerly a science-fiction writer.

Philosophy is a disapline of study. Scientology is a cult. The purpose of philosphy is understanding the meaning of life, and finding answers to life's more difficult questions. The purpose of Scientology is taking as much of your money as possible.

Scientology is a single belief system that claims, like most other belief systems, that it has all of the answers and everyone else is wrong.
Philosophy claims no answers. The best philosophers search for better questions. They constantly seek to build upon what they already know. A philosopher may be a teacher by profession, but will forever consider him/herself a student by nature.

Hey, mate ;
I believe Scientology puts one at cause over life and gives him the tools to applying what learned or cognited. Instead Philosophy skips the applications and merely gives
out data of uncertain application in life . Scientology is an applied religious Philosophy,
meant to show mankind the route to freedom, by applicable ways and understanding.
