I have to write a paper, on why education is important, and I was hoping to gather some ideas so I could write a good paper.

TWO: In the high tech world in which we live, your chances of getting a good job, much less an excellent job is most slim.

knowing how to do something means you don't have to suffer through trial and error (commonly referred to as 'reinventing the wheel'). Getting it right the first time maximizes our resources because waste is minimized.
For practical reasons, high paying jobs require an education. Who's going to pay you big bucks if you know nothing they don't already know!

You could look for statistics on the lifetime income averages of high school dropouts vs. high school grads vs. college grads vs. graduate school grads. (IF you're talking about formal education, as opposed to lessons learned in the school of life).
