Various movie characters are popular costumes. Two years ago, Lord of the Rings costumes such as hobbits (vests, cloaks), wizards, and elves were a big hit.
The trick is to find something that people recognize who the character is. This year we had the movie "Pirates of the carribean, dead man's chest", so I would guess pirate outfits might work.
What exactly is childish? animal outfits? Dress as a tiger, skunk, monkey, ant, or bee. These can work great if you can find wiggly antennae or furry ears to wear.
Sports outfits are popular: karate, baseball player, hockey player, tennis player.

First off, its 'wear', not 'where'. Did you sleep during third grade English class?
From what I saw last year, it is entirely acceptable for 10-11 year old's to wear 6 inch high heels, mini skirts, padded bras and a halter top on Halloween. Not to mention tons of makeup........................no, wait, that's the way they dress for school! Sorry!
Makes you wonder where the parents are...

i think you should wear an angel custume thats short or a sexy tinkerbell or be a baby! but remember you are going for "cute"not trashy... hope it helps
