Yes, like all beans it is excellent. Most experts now say that it is not necessary to combine proteins. Most Americans get much, much more protein than their bodies need anyway; too much is hard on the kidneys.

I love hummus and make my own with canned chick peas in a food processor - for each can of chick peas add about a tablespoon each of lemon juice (canned is okay) and tahini, plus garlic to taste. I usually throw in some fresh parsley as well. Peppers are another good addition. It's easy and much cheaper than buying it ready-made - if you already have the food processor, that is.

Only if combined with a serving of whole grain at some point during the same day. It is not a complete protein.

It's in the pea, bean family so yes it is. I don't like the taste though.
