Didn't anyone ever teach you types of introduction? General to specific? Specific to general? Ask a question? Use a quote? etc.

You could use the general-to-specific model for this essay: Teens are addicted to music. (Offer some examples - where/when do kids use iPods...) What does music do for teens? (Relaxes, soothes, excites, etc.) Then get more specific: this generation has learned to study with music...and then get to your thesis: MP3 players should be allowed in school (do you want to narrow it down? In study halls only?) Whatever you do, DON'T make an announcement! (Wrong: "In this paper I am going to explain why...") Nope, just do it.

Here's an idea: Mixed-sexes at school cause a number of problems: jealousy, competition for attention, premature sexual activities, daydreaming, distractions, beauty competitions, self-image hangups, and (fill in the blanks), to name but a few. Even though same-sex schools have a few similar or opposite downfalls, the education level achieved by a same-sex facility overcompensates these faults. I will prove that the concentration and, ergo, scholarly outcomes achieved at a same-sex school are much higher than a normal mixed school. With facts taken from the National Bereau of Statistics (or whatever it is called there) I will prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that having an All-Boys or an All-Girls secondary college will greatly increase the intelligence of our population. Then go on to talk about how many homosexuals are formed at these types of schools compared to the supressed ones from mixed schooling....LOL Tough case to argue!

Have you ever been in class and your teacher starts rambling on about some random thing that you have no care in the world for?
Well shouldn't we have the right to drone out their random statements with some awesome tunes form our MP3's? Think about how many of us listen to music while we do homework. Why do we do this? Perhaps it helps us concentrate better. So if it helps us, shouldn't we be allowed to take advantage of this aid to our learning process?

welll mp3 shouldn't be allowed in school is a better and more persuasive argument then why they should. they are distracting arent they? why would u be for it? u want a good grade u go with ur teacher and go against it. besides u just have to write it. if u are for MP3's and teacher obviously doesnt agree u would really really have to persuade her that means write MORE and think better.

As entertainment technology improves, we find ourselves with many new portable forms of entertainment that are beginning to cause great controversy as to whether they should be allowed in schools. One of the biggest battles between students and teachers is whether or not new musical devices known as MP3 players should be permitted in the classroom.
